the ski slopes spiked with a modern

Exploring the supremely glamorous lifestyle of legendary European ski resorts from a new point of view, Frida Giannini's men's collection for this season is rich, sporty and sophisticated. "I call it Snow Glam. It's about the legendary jet set life on the ski slopes spiked with a modern attitude," Giannini says. "Classically elegant Alpine style is mixed with influences from vintage skiwear and reinvented through innovative construction." The strong tailoring of jackets is emphasized throughout the collection. Rendered in styles that range from formal to outdoor chic, they feature a signature use of fur and leather detailing combined with innovative stitching and patchwork. A new and witty use of the Gucci crest, a trademark originally introduced in the 1950s by Guccio Gucci, is present throughout the collection in buttons, patches and prints. The masculine and focused color palette is composed of black, brown, forest green and dark red, as well as lime yellow and bright red. Giannini reworks daywear by fusing formal and sporty elements. Tweed suits in oversized checks are topped with fur collars. Pocket featherpins and crest patches add a sense of mountain chic together with lavish furs and handknit sweaters. Skinny tweed trousers feature reconstructed ski pant quilting while nylon parkas have been reinvented in lightweight leather. Evening wear is sleek and sexy with an indulgent touch of glamour. Tuxedo shirts are replaced by silk and cashmere turtlenecks with cuffed sleeves complete with diamond cuff links.
