A complaint has been lodged with the Ceasefire Monitors by the military that they have observed at least 25 armed LTTE cadres engaged in some work in the no-man’s-land between the LTTE and security forces Forward Defence Lines at Nagarkovil on Wednesday.
Military Sources said about fifteen of those LTTE cadres were in combat dresses and one of them was seen carrying a video camera.
Referring to the incident that took place after the ‘Tharu Vessa’ musical show on Wednesday night, St. Joseph’s College Rector Fr. Syvester Ranasinghe said the college was not involved in the show.
Fr. Ranasinghe said tha not even a single student was involved in the incident.
According to the Rector, the college sports complex had been hired by the Past Pupils’ Association of Clifton Balika Vidyalaya of Colombo 9. After the show a scuffle ensued outside the college gate. St. Joseph’s College was in no way involved with the show, apart from the hiring of the sports complex for staging the show.
“Not a single student from St Jospeh’s College is involved in the incident”, he said.
“Some parents and old boys have been disturbed after the news broadcast on Wednesday night and the factual position is that the college is not involved,” he said.
