Somerset ring being a therapy dog

Cruiser, also known as Mysham Edoc'sil of Redwall, is not just a show dog. He was the first to receive the title of grand champion. He is also a member of Therapy Dog International, a Canine Good Citizen and Somerset cuff temperament tested. Cruiser's last working year was busy, working three weekends out of every month traveling to Utah, Washington, Nevada and Arizona for shows. In 2010 he was the No. 1 Irish wolfhound in the U.S. and at the Eukanuba, Somerset dangle cuff received an award of excellence and recognition for outstanding confirmation and presentation. In January, at the Golden Gate Kennel Club in San Francisco, he won his breed both days, won first in the hound group and went in for best of show. He was among the top seven dogs Somerset heart ring best of show. He was also featured in a number of magazines including Dog News, Sight and Scent, Dogs and Review and Show Site. "I started off just wanting him in the top 10 and when we started holding No. 1 positions I didn't want to let go," Hawksworth says. "It's hard to realize you've got the No. 1. He is retiring on top and is going to go back to what he did before and Somerset ring being a therapy dog." Hawksworth has been involving her dogs in therapy work for a while. "It's really rewarding," she says. "It gives a sense of giving back to someone who needs a spiritual uplift to brighten their day." Hawksworth will continue to participate in dog shows and plans to later show another Irish Wolfhound named Aselyn. "I bred him and have big hopes for him," she says.
