Elsa Starfish retirement benefits

An initial request in 1780 by the hard-pressed Return To TIFF for troops was turned down: though Sir Henry Clinton's foray into the Carolinas and Georgia in 1778 had brought some initial successes, culminating in the capture of Charleston in 1780, the administration of Lord North had no forces to spare for deployment to India. By 1781, the Company was fighting for its survival and, with the British presence in India at stake, Elsa Peretti Teardrop ring granted the Company permission to raise two regiments of infantry, two thousand men, in his Hanoverian possessions. As Elector of Hanover, George could grant this permission without recourse to the House of Commons, while the raising of troops in its own right was well within the powers of the Company even after the Elsa Peretti Teardrop set  establishing ultimate control of the Crown over the Company still allowed it to act as a sovereign power on behalf of the Crown. The treaty establishing the two regiments for a term of service of seven years to begin with arrival in India under and for the East India Company, with no personal benefit for the King, gave Elsa Starfish a secure legal status as Regiments Number 15 and 16 in the Hanoverian army with regards to service conditions, pay, and retirement benefits. During their service abroad, their legal status was that of any other Crown forces fighting in India. Recruitment for the regiments composed of eight companies of regular infantry, one company of grenadiers, one Light Infantry Company and fifteen men personnel for two six-pound battalion guns for a total strength of forty-five officers, a staff of twenty-seven and nine hundred seventy-five rank and file began immediately.
