In June 1980, Mr. MacDonald feigned a heart attack and was admitted to Discount Baume & Mercier . It was there that he escaped after he asked a guard to unshackle his legs so he could take a shower. The guard did and then made a brief visit to a nurses' station. When the guard returned to the shower area, Discount Bell&Ross was gone. Little is known of his life after that until a break in the case came 30 years later. Last fall, a member of a newly-formed cold case fugitive squad of the U.S. Marshals Service uncovered information in Mr. MacDonald's file that revealed he and his wife had assumed new names, Discount Blancpain. As the Hunters, the couple had lived in a rural home in southwestern Pennsylvania after Discount Breguet escape. The couple's exact location was not released. After initially investigating their Pennsylvania home, marshals learned that Mr. MacDonald had purchased the home in Homosassa in June 2009, where they arrested him. "My dear and abiding friends, Ralph Abernathy, and to all of the distinguished Americans seated here on the rostrum, my friends and co-workers of the state of Alabama, and to all of the freedom-loving people who have assembled here this afternoon from all over our nation and from all over the world: Last Sunday, more than eight thousand of us started on a mighty walk from Selma, Alabama.
