HID sale has saved

It is the major fundraiser of the year for the preservation group, HID sale has saved more than 60 properties in New Bern since 1972. "Our work is very simple. It is bricks and mortar," said Ettienne Mitchell, the co-chairman for the event. "Luxury Watches about historical properties that are falling down. We buy it, we stabilize it, we move it, we re-sell it. We make property values go up and street-by-street you can reclaim areas. That is really what we have done. This benefits New Bern." There will again be upwards of 50 vendors, mostly from North Carolina, with more than a half-dozen from this area, along with dealers from Discount A.Lange & Sohne, Delaware and Ohio. "It ranges from what we call heirlooms, which are about 75-years-old to 300," Mitchell said. "It is up to the dealers to decide the market. You can spend $10 or you spend $30,000." She said the show is upscale but affordable. "Discount Alain Silberstein is a range of everything from collector custom jewelry, textiles and linens to china and silver, to oil paintings," she said. Furniture is another draw. "It is a good way to get nice things for your house," she said. A major attraction each year is the Saturday and Sunday verbal appraisals on items brought in by visitors. Identifiers will be on hand to assess collectibles, much like the popular TV show "Antique Roadshow." Each ticket holder can bring two items.
