But her lighting scheme doesn't miss a thing, HID the vacuum lines crisscrossing the pumpkin-colored carpet to the glint of the cardboard-hued flower-print wallpaper cornering the chair. A handful of photos here are strictly commercial: "Girl in HID on sale" and "Girl in Field" both look as if they're pulled from fashion spreads in Sunday magazines. Incidentally, Friedman makes her living shooting covers for the HID sale, island-hopping for Travel + Leisure and Budget Travel, and framing celebs for glossy fashion magazines (her portfolio spans from fashion and beauty icons Discount Elsa Peretti to movie stars Diego Luna and Jason Schwartzman). The commercial work is good, of course, but I'd just as soon pore over them in a magazine. More nightscapes would have been nice. Friedman is paired with Miss Aniela, the stage name for 20-something self-portrait photographer Natalie Dybisz.
